One beautiful city is mind my mind for days now: London
I was lucky enough to go on a big trip to the capital of England, which really is such a cool place as they say. Our days there were very busy. We wanted to see and experience everything that’s just possible.
As I promised, now comes the bohemian quarter, Camden Town, the Chinese part of the city, Chinatown and Cucumber Alley, which I gave the ‘ubiköz’ nickname to. It is the entrance to lots of fantastic food, flower shops, bakeries, and all sorts of this worldly goods.
It’s the third day, here you can read the previous articles. It’s in Hungarian, sorry for that:
Let’s see how three day was, shall we?
Camden Town
They don’t try to save money on marketing here. Shop vendors make it very easily visible for everyone what their merchandise is. No matter if it’s a grocery store, magic shop, or a clothing store.
The daytime is for punks and curious tourists, the night is for live music. We could only see the neighborhood in the daytime. In a nutshell: wow.
This many weird stuff and people in a crowded street is not a thing you see everyday.
Regent’s Canal
The canal flows through Camden’s quirky market. Nice sight. It worth not to stay along the beaten path and wander along the canal. In beautiful little secluded places, you can find fantastic restaurants.
Kings Cross
It was our second time we visited here. It’s very hard to avoid this place, it is a focal point in the district and a transport hub.
We drank a delicious tea/coffee because it was freezing. We learned that Remembrance Day (or Poppy Day, what has become more widely known because of its small red flowers) is being held in the UK on 11 November. The little red poppy symbolizes respect for the victims and the support of the veterans. This is when the whole city turns red for a few days.
The train station had more interesting things for us, as Platform 9¾ can be found here . (Harry Potter fans, unite)
Covent Garden
Now we are headed to Covent Garden. Before I get to it, I’ll show you something interesting. I’d say, we stumbled upon it, but not gonna lie. We had the premature intention to come here.
The roundabout connects 7 roads. Luckily, we left the beers to the end of the day because we struggled to find the 7th road anyway. It was hiding. How mischievous!
Covent Garden is the most interesting place, perhaps, where we were during this one week trip.
In the entertainment district of London, I really had experiences after which there is no man on Earth who doesn’t bloom completely.
We became active participants (seriously, we were very sympathetic for the little guy) for a magic show, we saw a quirky dance show of this skull marionette, and the gentleman in the picture surprised us with an authentic Italian experience. The following happened: I was waiting outside while my travel partner visited the bathroom. It was an interactive show. There were people who he danced with, there were people who he tried to dance with and there were people who were sung of by the Italian tenor, (or tenore in Italian, to make the experience more authentic, haha). Well, I fell into the last category, I got a few lines in the late afternoon performance. Nice gesture.
Chinatown
We met with a very iconic character on the way to Chinatown.
The lanterns really are fantastic and the food really is seasoned as local people’s taste is. Not an urban legend.
British Museum
I came across a surprising number of creations in the museum that I did not even know are kept here. I have photographed some of that, so that I can share it with you. The most of them are kept only in our memories. Worth a visit, it’s free.
Means: Stolen friend.. ironic, isn’t it?
Sörike – Beeeeeer
Long story short, we didn’t visit any pub so far. It would’ve been a shame to miss out on this. We asked the favorite of the bartender girl.
M&M’S world
Sugar, sugar and a little more sugar. Such colors, such tastes!
Bonus:
Agatha Christie, some street musician and the world’s end
In the next part, we imitate a Beetles album cover, we check out how the fantastic private detective, Sherlock, and his loyal companion, Watson lived and we visit my favorite square too! Thanks for your time!
